Major General Se Vuthy, commander of Svay Rieng military police, identified the Vietnamese as Nguyen Hongdam, 31, Nguyen Thaiseun, 30, Fong Hongfi, 40, and Nguyen Thi Toeung An, 21, all professional gamblers.
The Cambodian suspects were named as Chey Sopheap, 40, Pov Leakhena, 35, Khin Visal, 34, Ngov Phirum, 37, Youn Panha, 31, and Hun Sreykar, 28, all unemployed.
The suspects were all charged with drug trafficking and illegal use of a weapon. They face a life sentence if convicted. Maj Gen Vuthy said the traffickers were arrested in different places between Friday and Monday in Svay Rieng province and Phnom Penh.
Mr Panha was arrested first in a karaoke establishment in Bavet city.
Through his confessions, police arrested the other suspects, and seized more than seven kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, two guns, and a car.
“Our military police will continue to work on this case in order to find their other accomplices and bring them to justice,” Maj Gen Vuthy said.
