The Labour Minister said he expects buyers from America to increase their orders both in the textile and footwear industry after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between the Ministry of Labour and the American Center for International Labor Solidarity.
Ith Samheng, the Minister of Labour, said on Monday at the signing ceremony that this was the first time that the ministry and ACILS had cooperated and signed an MoU with each other and that it will improve their partnership.
“Through this MoU, we really strongly hope that orders from America will keeping increasing, both for garments and footwear products as well as for travel products,” he said.
Mr Samheng said the MoU will be an important framework for cooperation between the ministry and ACILS which will contribute to the implementation of government policy in the development of Cambodia’s labour market.
He added that Cambodia has strived to strengthen the implementation of good working conditions that respond to the concerns of all relevant stakeholders, including major US buyers, unions, employers and also workers.
