The owner of a massage shop in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district was arrested on Wednesday for offering illegal prostitution services.

Sok Hak, a police officer with the municipal anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection unit, identified the suspect as Pen Rany, 39, the owner of “$3 Massage Shop”.

He said Ms Rany was arrested after police raided her premises while masseuses were having sex with male customers.

“The fee for a massage was $3, but she also allowed masseuses to have sex with their clients for $20 or $30,” Mr Hak said. “She took a commission for each client, ranging from $5 to $10.”

During the raid, police arrested five masseuses, one of whom was underage.

They seized evidence including a notebook listing the clients, used condoms, and other sex-related materials.

Mr Hak said the suspect was accused by police of “procuring prostitution under aggravating circumstances”.

She has been detained and is being questioned at the police station, he said.

The five masseuses, who won’t face any charges, have been sent to municipal authorities for rehabilitation.
