A Cambodian woman has been found dead in a fishing pond at a farm where she worked alongside her husband in Thailand’s Prachin Buri province.
Cambodian and Thai authorities are investigating the case as murder.
Ben Sam Ath, police chief in Banteay Meanchey province’s Malai district, said the woman’s body was repatriated by authorities on Wednesday.
“We cooperated with Thai police and they sent the body back to Cambodia. We have yet to identify the suspect or a motive for the murder,” he said.
The victim was named as Khil Nary, 35, and her husband as Ngin Ratana, 42. Mr Sam Ath said the victim and her husband were workers at the fish farm and looked after the pond where she was murdered.
“Based on available information, she was murdered at night, and her body was found in the pond by her husband the next morning,” he said. “We need to investigate the case further.”
