The newly renovated Sharly’s Bar in Phnom Penh’s street 130 is open for business and the Euphoria Band, a bar regular, is back with its stunning Filipina songstress Daph Xean on stage.

Sharky Bar has been under a new management for the past three months.

According to the management, the place is being upgraded, with its lighting improved. There is a new team running the kitchen which still serves the old favourites and new weekly specials.

Old-rockers however still miss the place when it was run by the late New Yorker Michael Hsu. It was then branded as “Phnom Penh’s oldest rock-and-roll bar” with its yearly three-night Penhstock festival.

Sharky’s new management has rebranded the venue as the “Number One Music Venue in Cambodia”. One thing’s for certain. There will be more DJs spinning house tunes, so put on your dancing shoes.
