An elderly man has been hospitalised due to several injuries sustained when he was attacked by a female boar in Pursat province on Sunday morning.

Soleil Mesa, a district police officer, said the incident took place when the victim, Prak An, 71, was walking through his farm in Kraper Pi commune.

“He was attacked by a rogue boar, leaving him seriously wounded,” Mr Mesa said.

“He was transported to the district hospital for treatment following the incident.”

Mr Mesa said the incident occurred when Mr An left his house to check his crops. He then encountered the wild animal, who attacked him because her young were roaming the field.

He added the incident was interrupted by neighbouring farmers, who heard Mr An’s cries for help. They killed the wild boar.

“In this area, villagers are often attacked by wild boars when they work on their plantations,” Mr Mesa said.
