Eight Vietnamese loggers were arrested on Wednesday in Mondulkiri’s Srey Pauk protected wildlife forest area.
Provincial military police officer Keo Sokchea said the eight were arrested after a patrol of the National Committee for Forest Crime Prevention found them cutting trees in the protected area.
“They illegally entered Cambodia to cut trees,” he said.
After the arrests, military police seized about 1,000 logs of luxury wood, a bulldozer and two chainsaws.
The suspects will be sent to the provincial court for questioning today.
