After successive wins on the Mixed Martial Arts circuit and a flawless streak in the cage, Meas Meul will make a return to the ONE Championship cage in Manila later this month.
Meul (6W-0L) has been matched with Filipino contender Edward ‘The Rock’ Kelly (9W-4L) at ONE Championship: Global Superheroes on January 26 in what is expected to be his toughest MMA test yet.
Meul, a judo specialist, is fighting out of the Cambodian Top Team (CTT) in Phnom Penh and is now under the tutelage of Cambodian MMA pioneer Chan Reach.
In his Full Metal Dojo 15 bout in Thailand last November, Meul was victorious in his lightweight match against Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts Season 1 champion Allen “Solomon” Chong, submitting his opponent by the tightest of rear-naked chokes two minutes and 51 seconds into round two.
Earlier that same year, at Full Metal Dojo 13 last February, he fought off a bigger and stronger opponent in Thailand’s Jiriwat Eaimsamang, triumphing with a second-round win.Meul, 27, has previously turned out at two ONE events One Championship 20 – Rise of the Kingdom in 2015 and One Championship 35 – Kingdom of Khmer in 2015. He won both bouts in the first round.
