Yuwan Square, a modernised and mixed development in the business centre in Battambang province, is set to have a soft launch at the end of the month, a move to tap into the current fast changing lifestyles of the people in the province.
The centre’s investors were local company BXcellence, a property management company in the province in the heart of the provincial town, and the new project is set on 3,000 square metres in Romchek commune, Sangkat Rottanak, a provincial town in Battambang.
Hong Nora, a shareholder of Yuwan Square, told Khmer Times that since people’s incomes in the province keep rising, as well as a rising number of both local and foreign tourists, the centre will be another contribution to new development in the province as well as in response to the need of young people and the tourists.
“Battambang has a lot of potential and is one of the economic hubs of the country after Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville province. So we decided to invest in Battambang because the spending of our people keeps rising,” he said.
“Our development concept is to target the youth in the province because they are fascinated with new lifestyles, so the centre is the place for them to enjoy themselves,” he added.
According to Mr Nora, the centre is a mixed development style comprising office space, coffee shop, pharmacy, a food and beverage court, restaurants, financial complex, apartments and entertainment venues.
Uch Omthiny Sara, the Director of the Department of Tourism in Battambang province, said the development of Yuwan Square was a contribution to the development of the province as well as to the tourism sector. He said it will play an important role in attracting more people to visit his province.
“We welcome more investment to the province, especially the new, modernised development style of the business centre. Our province is a civilised one and so our people like spending, visiting and entertaining. I think Yuwan Square will find success,” he said.
According to Mr Sara, last year, the province welcomed 618,139 tourists, a slight increase of 1.36 percent on the previous year, of which 519,835 were local tourists and 99,304 were foreigners.
Mr Nora said the center will have a soft launch in late January and now is open for leasing.
“We started construction of the complex since September last year so we will start a soft opening later this month since we already have 50 percent of our space hired and we plan to make the official opening in April before Khmer New Year.”
