Authorities in Kampong Cham town shut down a fish delivery business yesterday after bad smells coming from the facility disturbed neigbours and students at a nearby school.
Sam Yuseng, deputy police chief of the town, said that neighbours and students filed a complaint against the business for several disturbances, including the bad smell and traffic violations by its truck drivers.
Mr Yuseng said authorities talked to the owner, Hong Chrea, and gave him an ultimatum to improve sanitary conditions in the shop, but Mr Chrea did not comply.
Located in front of Tonle Bit School, the business affected students in particular.
There were also allegations that workers would break into the school at night to defecate and further disturb the students.
Mr Yuseng said that faced with Mr Chrea’s non-compliance, there was no other choice but to shut down the business and for it to find a new location.
Mr Chrea could not be contacted for comment.
