Eight Cambodians and three Lao suspects were arrested on Sunday afternoon by Stung Treng provincial military police for allegedly transporting drugs from Laos to Cambodia.
Chan Seng, deputy commander of the provincial military police, said the group was arrested at about 3pm in Siem Pang district after they crossed into Cambodia in an SUV.
“They were arrested by our provincial military police red-handed,” he said. “They were in the act of transporting drugs from Laos to Siem Pang district.”
Mr Seng said that after the arrests, police seized a big package of crystal methamphetamine, an AK-47 rifle, a homemade rifle, ammunition, about $500 and several motorbikes and chainsaws. He added that the group remains detained at the provincial military police office for further investigation.
