The director-general of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre, Heng Ratana, says that the CMAC needs $20 million to continue its work in Cambodia.

According to Mr. Ratana’s Facebook post on Friday, the CMAC’s goal in 2018 is to clear 147 square kilometres of land mines, cluster munitions and other unexploded ordnance – including chemical weapons. CMAC officials will also continue educating people about the dangers facing unqualified persons if they try to remove UXOs, and supporting those people who have been disabled by such devices.

In 2017, CMAC cleared over 86 square kilometres of land, removing and destroying 37,448 landmines and UXOs.
