Cambodia will be affected by tropical storm Bolaven over the next five days, with rainfall expected around most of the country, especially in coastal and lowland areas.
According to a Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology statement yesterday, Bolaven had intensified into a tropical storm as it left the south-eastern Philippines and headed toward the South China Sea.
The storm is expected to have a strong effect on the central coast of Vietnam and a medium influence on the Mekong Delta region.
The ministry said Cambodia will receive a weak effect from Bolaven, with cloudier skies today and Saturday and a low-to-average level of rainfall, especially in coastal and lowland areas.
From Sunday to Tuesday, rain will continue to fall at a low-to-average level across most of the kingdom.
Pov Yany, a resident of Battambang province, said she obtained the weather forecast from the ministry’s Facebook page and had already informed farmers who were harvesting and drying paddy rice.
“This advance notice is beneficial because we are prepared before the change in weather,” she said.
