Cambodia Beer has agreed to sponsor Siem Reap Angkor, who currently lie in second position in the domestic second division.
 
‘We have received $50,000 from the company to help train our players in Siem Reap and also to prepare for the SEA Games 2023. We would like to thank the sponsors who help us to continue to progress further,” said Ieng Saknida, club secretary at the club at on Thursday.
 
“We hope the money will help us to get the opportunity to play in the top league next season.”
 
In last season’s campaign, the club finished outside of the promotion places in fourth place.
 
Manufactured by Khmer Brewery, Cambodia Beer also recently sponsored the Cambodia Charity Run and Ride and is no stranger to backing other sporting endeavours.
 
“The reason we decided to sponsor this club is because we are looking for a young, highly motivated team and one that wants to be successful,” said a Cambodia Beer representative. “So we want to help them to achieve.”
 
Siem Reap Angkor are part-owned by Japanese AC-Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda, who agreed to invest in the club after a three-day whistle stop tour of the Kingdom last December.
 
Representatives also confirmed the club would go on a one-week training trip to Osaka, Japan later this year.
