Officer wounded in ‘grudge’ shooting
A police officer is recovering in hospital after being shot while sleeping in his hammock.
Romas Khvang, 40, who works with the 623 border police unit and is also a member of the Jarai hill tribe, was attacked by an unidentified gunman in Ratanakkiri province’s O’Yadav district on Wednesday night.
Police said the gunman used an assault rifle to shoot Mr. Khvang while he slept outside his house and he suffered wounds to his right hand and stomach.
He has since been transferred to a hospital in Vietnam’s Gia Lai province for specialist treatment.
Police believe the attack was the result of a personal grudge.
