A team of Pursat provincial and national military police seized eight trucks loaded with timber on National Road 55 in Kravanh district’s Samraong commune on Monday and yesterday.
Deputy provincial military police commander So Sovandy said the joint crackdown came after a tip-off, but the drivers of the vehicles managed to escape.
Puth Ly, the deputy commander in charge of the case, said forces are examining the trucks and timber before taking further action.
“We seized eight trucks. We are still checking both the trucks and the timber. We don’t know what action is going to be taken yet because we are waiting to hear from our seniors,” he said.
Mr Ly could not confirm where the timber was being taken or how much was in the haul.
