The Philippines has pledged to respect the Kingdom’s sovereignty and work closely with Cambodia in a bid to further boost bilateral ties.
Following the meeting between Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Cambodian Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn in Manila on Tuesday, the ministry’s press release stated, “Mr President Duterte stressed that the Philippines respect the sovereignty of Cambodia and he also expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.”
At the meeting, Mr Duterte encouraged the Philippines to import Cambodian rice, and welcomed Cambodian investors to invest in Philippines.
The minister and his Philippine counterpart, Alan Peter S. Cayetano, co-chaired the Second Cambodia-Philippine Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation. They discussed regional and international issues related to politics and and security. Another topic was the economic and social development of both nations.
Cambodia and the Philippines agree to further deepen their existing cooperation with emphasis on bilateral defense, transitional crimes, trade and investment as well as agriculture, tourism, culture, labor and education.
