Police arrest three in Poipet drug bust

Two Cambodians and a Thai national were arrested yesterday for allegedly selling drugs to gamblers at casinos in Poipet city on the Thai-Cambodian border.

Veng Sophal, deputy chief of Poipet City Police, said the suspects were arrested selling drugs in front of a casino.

“After their arrests, we seized a total of 11 tablets of Ketamine and seven small packages of crystal methamphetamine,” he said.

He identified one suspect as Ty Chhay, a 48-year-old Thai man, whom he called the mastermind of the operation.

The other suspects were Mao Heang, 15, and Lon Chhaylim, 31. Both were drug addicts.

They have so far been accused of “drug use and drug trafficking.” They are currently being detained pending investigation.
