Swedish institute study scholarships

To encourage scholarship holders to play an active role in the positive development of the societies in which they live, the Swedish government is offering up to 180 Swedish institute study scholarships for intake year 2018 to potential candidates from developing countries to pursue master’s degrees.

Free online chemistry course

Course starts: November 27

The free online course “Introduction to Physical Chemistry” launched by the University of Manchester covers the key concepts of three of the principal topics: thermodynamics, kinetics and quantum mechanics. It is designed for all undergraduate students, especially for freshmen. The 12 to 15 hours course will start on November 27.

Australian research training programme

Application deadline: March 31, 2018

Applicants from Australia and other countries are invited to apply for Research Programme Training Scholarships supported by Bond University, which will allocate funds to assist all scholars in covering the cost of fee offset and living stipends up to $27,082 per annum. Scholarships are awarded to highly qualified students commencing PhD programmes in 2018.

AU Global leader scholarships

With the purpose of promoting educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity, the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is opening applications to all international students who wish to pursue a four-year undergraduate programme at American University. Winners will be selected based on academic merit.


Contest

Writing contest

Application deadline: November 30

A writing contest under the theme of “Trash” is open to 12 to 18 year-old candidates. It is aimed at encouraging young adults and children to love writing and reading, fostering reading to benefit real-life practice, and promoting literature, books, and authors. The top three winners will be selected based on fulfilment of all criteria, grammar and spelling, and number of Likes from Facebook friends.

SERCA photo contest

The SERCA photo contest 2017 is now open to citizens from Southeast Asia on the main theme of “Agriculture for All, by all. Moving forward on agricultural and rural development in Southeast Asia.” The aim is to curate images of the peoples of Southeast Asia, and which suggest ways of achieving a better life in agriculture either through urban or rural settings. Photo entries should show any of the following values: innovation, inclusive growth, and sustainability.

Exchange programmes

Young social entrepreneurs (YSE) 2018

Application deadline: December 10

To motivate, equip and enable youth of different nationalities to initiate social enterprises (SEs) and related ideas in Singapore, the YSE programme invites all international youth who are young changemakers, and innovators, and who wish to turn social enterprise ideas into a reality, to participate in a four-day workshop in Singapore to pitch their business ideas and have a chance to be shortlisted into the YSE programme.

The US embassy in Phnom Penh, in collaboration with the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the visit of former First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy to Cambodia in 1967. US ambassador to Cambodia William Heidt will cut a ribbon to open a photo exhibit about the First Lady’s visit to the Kingdom that is on display at the hotel. Fifty years ago, First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy visited Cambodia to fulfill her “youthful lifelong dream” of visiting the ancient ruins of Angkor. Her visit to Cambodia was covered then by the iconic American magazine “Life.”
