94th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey

The Republic of Turkey’s embassy in Phnom Penh hosted a party to celebrate the 94th anniversary of its republic’s founding day at the ballroom of Raffles Hotel Le Royal. This special evening was attend by Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and Second Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victims Assistance Authority.

Mr İlhan Kemal, Turkey’s ambassador in Phnom Penh, said: “This year on October 29 marks the 94th anniversary of the founding of our state, proclaimed under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who had led the Turkish war of liberation to victory. On October 29, 1923, the Turkish Republic was established on the principle of the sovereignty belonging unconditionally to the nation and with the aim of raising our nation above the level of contemporary civilisations.”
