Two Lao men and a Cambodian were charged yesterday with possessing more than eight kilos of crystal methamphetamine.

Heak Dara, 53, and Lao nationals Souky Thornthai, 24, and Soum Mai, 17, face life sentences if convicted.

“Heak Dara was the mastermind and was in charge of drug distributions,” said Interior Ministry anti-drug police chief Yin Phanharith.

“The two Lao men were in charge of transporting drugs from Stung Treng province to Phnom Penh.”

He said that on Saturday, anti-drug and local police raided two rented houses in Russey Keo and Sen Sok districts.

Police arrested two Lao men and two Cambodians and confiscated ten packages of crystal methamphetamine, weighing more than eight kilos in total.

A Cambodian was freed after police investigations showed that he was not involved in the drug trafficking.
