More than 160 birds and wild animals were seized in Kampong Thom province on Monday night in a crackdown on wildlife trafficking.

Provincial prosecutor Ith Sothea said the wildlife included 150 lesser whistling ducks, ten monkeys and five ferrets. They were seized from a car in Santuk district.

Mr Sothea said the birds and wild animals were yesterday sent to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre in Takeo province.

“We will treat any of the sick birds and animals before releasing them,” Mr Sothea said.
