Much to the delight of the kingdom’s domestic football league fans, the Metfone C-League resumed play at the weekend. A five-week break in play was a result of Cambodia’s woeful SEA Games campaign.
Six of the C-League’s sides faced off on Saturday to kick-off match week 15 fixtures.
NagaWorld travelled to Army Stadium in Saturday’s evening highlight and were untroubled as they blasted three goals past 2016 C-League runners-up Ministry of National Defence.
The 3-0 win came courtesy of strikes from Brazilian forward Diego Game de Oliveira and a brace from top-scoring African hotshot Atuheire Kipson. The win moves the casino-backed side to second in the league table on 29 points.
Meanwhile, six-time league winners Phnom Penh Crown were frustrated in their away trip to bottom side Kirivong Sok Sen Chey.
Crown led for the majority of the match through a Shane Booysen goal on 8 minutes. However, lackadaisical defending saw the six-time league winners pegged back by an equalising goal in second-half stoppage time.
The day’s final clash took place at the Siem Reap Stadium where playoff-chasing Cambodian Tiger put four past Asia Euro United in a 4-0 victory.
