The Battambang provincial police chief will today be promoted to become the deputy National Police Commissioner, while the deputy Phnom Penh police chief will fill his position.

Major General Sar Thet will become the deputy National Police Commissioner and Brigadier General Ouch Sokhon will become the Battambang provincial police chief, said Pen Vibol, director of the personnel department at the Interior Ministry.

“Now I am organising the ceremony,” Mr Vibol said.

Maj Gen Thet said he wished his replacement luck in his new position.

“I served the people in Battambang province for about eight or nine years,” he said. “I congratulate the new provincial police chief on his promotion.”

Maj Gen Thet added that he would continue to work hard to serve the nation and cooperate with other units.

Brig Gen Sokhon said that he worked as a police official since 1979 after the fall of the Khmer Rouge.

“I became a police official since 1979 and I have been promoted step by step from where I started as Chamkarmon district police chief,” he said.
