Banteay Meanchey provincial police have offered a reward of $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a man who brutally raped and killed an 18-year-old girl on Saturday.
Provincial Police Chief Ath Khem yesterday posted on his Facebook page saying any information that leads to the arrest of Chim Tak, 25, will be rewarded with $1,000. His post also included a picture of the suspect.
“If anyone reports to police the whereabouts of the suspect and it leads to his arrest, we will reward them with $1,000,” the post said. According to police, the victim was attacked in Malai district’s Ta Kong commune as she was riding home on her motorbike after dropping her father off at work early on Saturday morning.
“The suspect raped her and then killed her by tying her hands behind her back and pressing her face into water and mud with his foot,” the district police report said.
Sith Los, provincial deputy police chief, said the suspect and victim likely knew each other.
“Our conclusion is that the suspect and the victim knew each other because they lived in the same village,” he said.
