Boeung Ket begin their 2018 AFC Cup campaign this evening in an away tie against Ceres Negros of the Philippines at Bacolod City’s Panaad Park Stadium.
The 2015 and 2016 Metfone C-League champions defeated Lao Toyota over two legs in the qualifying play-offs earlier this month and now find themselves drawn in Group F alongside Shan United of Myanmar, Home United of Singapore and tonight’s opposition Ceres Negros.
Accredited AFC ‘A’ licence coach Keo Kosal takes over coaching duties for the Cambodian side with head coach Hao Socheat set to watch from the sidelines.
Speaking at yesterday’s press conference, Kosal targeted a good performance rather than a result.
“We know that as the home side they are strong and at an advantage. But we will try to play our best. The result is not important, but what’s important is to play our best.”
The Cambodian club also participated in last season’s competition, finishing third in a four-team group, and exiting at the group stage.
After tonight’s match, Boeung Ket will welcome Shan United to the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on February 27 and then will host Home United on March 6.
