Funcinpec’s president Prince Norodom Ranariddh has appointed a Chinese-Cambodian businessman as the party’s new vice president.

The announcement apparently left some senior members dissatisfied.

One senior member, who asked not to be named, said Funcinpec secretary general Yim Savy introduced the Chinese-Cambodian businessman to Prince Norodom Ranariddh and asked for him to be appointed as vice president.

Nhep Bunchin, lawmaker and spokesman for Funcinpec, declined to comment.

Mr Savy said he had heard about the appointment but could not give any more information on it.
