More than 66 foreigners from 10 different countries were arrested in 30 criminal cases in December, according to a National Police report published yesterday.
The group included 41 foreigners who were found to have been staying in the country illegally.
Foreigners were meanwhile victims of crimes in 19 cases, in which one person was killed and three were injured.
A further 20 cases involved accidents that affected foreigners, with 15 dead and seven injured.
Foreigners filed a total of 63 complaints with police in December, including 30 in Phnom Penh, 26 in Siem Reap province, four in Preah Sihanouk province and three in Battambang province.
According to the report, police solved 49 cases relating to foreigners during the month, while forces strengthened security and patrols in tourist areas.
The overall national crime rate in December decreased one percent compared with last year, to 246 cases, the report said.
Criminal cases dropped 19 percent, but misdemeanours increased four percent.
National Police spokesman General Kirth Chantharith said the increase in misdemeanours included bag snatching crimes.
He added that police officers worked hard to solve 30 out of 32 bag snatching cases reported in December.
“The national police commissioner ordered us to crackdown on snatching crimes and punish perpetrators seriously,” Gen Chantharith said.
