Phnom Penh Municipal Court charged a French tourist yesterday for beating a Cambodian sex worker after he accused her of stealing money from him.

Huoth Chanyurann, chief of Daun Penh district police, identified the man as Sebastien Millox, 49, and the victim as May Sreyleak, 32, a worker at the Bunny Bar, a French-owned establishment in Wat Phnom commune.

Sok Dararith, a police officer in Daun Penh, said the attack took place at the French man’s rental house on Saturday night.

Mr Millox went to drink beer at the Bunny Bar and brought Ms Sreyleak back to his rental room to have sex.

Once there, he went to take a shower, and left the victim alone in his room. He checked his bag when he returned, and claimed Ms Sreyleak stole $200 from him.

Mr Millox then violently attacked the young woman, grabbing her hair and beating her forehead against the wall repeatedly. She was seriously injured and lost consciousness.

He was arrested later that night and confessed during interrogation by police.

He was charged with “intentional acts of violence under aggravating circumstances”.
