The Interior Ministry again allows the land rights NGO Equitable Cambodia (EC) to operate in Cambodia. It activities were suspended in September 2017; that suspension has now been revoked.

The announcement was made after the meeting between Interior Minister Sar Kheng and EU ambassador George Edgar on Feb.23 of this year.

According to the National Police, both parties discussed land disputes with the Phnom Penh Sugar Company in Kampong Speu province. Another topic was EC’s suspension following allegations of its inciting villagers to protests, and failing to file financial reports and activity agenda.

The ministry already allowed EC to operate as usual and continue its work after it had submitted the requested information.
